During a transformative Homecoming Weekend sleepover in mid-90s Texas,
a suicidal 14-yr old tries to convince a mysterious woman to take him, his insecure best friend, and their emotional bandmate for a ride in her DeLorean, while secretly pursuing his first love - his former best friend.
WRITER
Ashley Lauren (she/her) is a half-Guyanese transgender writer-director who writes queer stories across genres that explore the fallout of identity and self. Whether grounded in realism or mythic in allegory, her stories are specific and honest, featuring deeply human characters and nuanced, complex emotions.
In addition to winning a fellowship in the WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Lab, Ashley's feature and pilot scripts have also earned finalist, semi-finalist, and quarter-finalist placements in competition. Her short films have won Best Directing, a Special Jury Award, and Best Comedy Short, among others.
She has a wealth of industry experience In addition to her creative endeavors, including stints as Head of Production, Head of Post Production, and others on both the studio, the network, and the production company sides, as well as in the independent space. Her experience includes scripted and documentary features, long and short-form scripted and unscripted series, as well as branded content, and more.
